What does The Window Depot do?
We sell and install replacement windows and exterior doors for homes, rental properties and commercial buildings. We're full-frame replacement specialists, which means we fix problems at the frame instead of covering them up, and we carry premium and value brands so you can choose what fits your home and budget.
Where are you located, and what areas do you serve?
Our headquarters is at 530 Wood St in Fenton, and we serve communities within roughly 100 miles, including Flint, Grand Blanc, Clarkston, Troy, Novi, Bloomfield Hills and Ann Arbor. See all service areas, or call to confirm your address.
Is The Window Depot veteran-owned?
Yes. The Window Depot is a veteran-owned company headquartered right here in Fenton. Learn more about us.
What is full-frame window replacement, and do I need it?
An insert (or pocket) replacement sets a new window inside your existing frame. A full-frame replacement removes the old window down to the rough opening, so we can inspect and repair rot or water damage, insulate and flash the opening properly, and install a complete new unit. Not every opening needs it. We'll check each window during your consultation and recommend the right approach. Learn about window replacement.
Which window brands do you install?
Do you replace doors too?
Yes. We install Therma-Tru fiberglass and steel entry doors, sliding and French patio doors, storm doors and commercial doors. Explore exterior doors.
How do I choose the right window style?
It depends on the room, the view and how you want the window to open. Double-hung windows suit traditional homes, casement and awning windows seal tightest, bay and bow windows add space and light, sliding and picture windows maximize the view, and egress windows make basement bedrooms safe and code-compliant. We'll help you choose during your consultation.
How much do replacement windows cost?
It depends on the brand, size, style, glass and whether the opening needs full-frame replacement. Installed replacement windows in Southeast and Mid-Michigan depends on a quick estimation and proposal. You'll get an exact, itemized price after a free in-home measurement, with no pricing tricks or add-ons tacked on later.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Options include an unsecured personal loan, a 0% intro card for up to 21 months and a home equity line of credit, all subject to credit approval and with no prepayment penalties. Compare financing options.
Is the in-home consultation really free?
Yes. A qualified representative comes to your home, discusses your needs, measures every opening and gives you an exact quote, with no cost and no obligation.
Are your sales reps on commission?
No. Our representatives don't work on commission, so there are no high-pressure sales tactics. Their job is to recommend what's right for your home and to follow up after installation until you're 100% satisfied.
Who installs my windows?
Our installers are certified by Installation Masters, a program built around accurate, energy-efficient window and door installation. With more than 25 years in construction behind us, we evaluate the structure of your home before the old windows come out.
How long does installation take?
Most whole-home window projects take one to three days (approx 5 windows per day), depending on how many windows you're replacing and how many openings need full-frame work. We'll give you a schedule with your quote.
How long until my windows arrive?
Windows are built to order, so lead times depend on the manufacturer, product line and options you choose (couple weeks for vinyl, up to 6 weeks for major brand). We'll give you an estimated delivery window with your quote and confirm your installation date once your order arrives.
Can I replace my windows in phases?
Yes. Many homeowners replace the worst windows first and finish the rest over the next season or two. We'll plan the phases so everything matches when the project is complete.
What warranties do I get?
18 Month workmanship work from Window Depot. Your windows and doors carry the manufacturer's product warranty, and we install every unit to factory specifications so that coverage stays intact.
Most major brands offer 20 year warranty.
Andersen windows is 20 years transferrable.
Do you work with landlords, property managers and commercial properties?
Yes. Our background includes more than 2,000,000 square feet of commercial and multi-family construction. We handle rental properties, multi-family buildings and commercial window and door projects.
How should I prepare for installation day?
Take down blinds, curtains and wall hangings near the windows, move furniture a few feet away from each opening, and plan for pets to be kept out of the work areas. Our crew protects your floors and cleans up thoroughly when the job is done.
